Reagan Brumley

Reagan Brumley is the newly appointed Director of Bands at Walnut Grove High School. Prior to this position, Mr. Brumley served as the Director of Bands at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson ISD. In this role, Mr. Brumley guided the rebuilding of the marching band into a consistent UIL and independent marching finalist and the concert bands into advanced ensembles performing highly demanding repertoire. From 2011-2020, Mr. Brumley was the Director of Instrumental Music for Highland Park ISD, where he served as Director of the “Highlander” Marching Band, conducted the Wind Symphony, and guided all aspects of the Highland Park Bands, grades 5-12. During Mr. Brumley’s tenure in this position, the HPHS Band advanced to the Texas State Marching Contest, twice advancing to the State Finals, earning the Silver Medal in 2019.  The band advanced to the finals of the Area C Marching Contest at every opportunity.  In addition, the band won grand championships and class championships at marching contests around DFW.  Under Mr. Brumley’s direction, the Highland Park Wind Symphony twice earned State Honor Band Finalist status, finishing 2nd in the state in class 5A in 2019 and 4th in the state in 2017. The program also demonstrated a strong track record of success in the TMEA All-State process, placing the highest number of students in the All-State Bands of any 5A band program in their area in 2017, 2018, and 2019.  Prior to Mr. Brumley’s appointment at Highland Park, he was the Associate Director of Bands at Berkner High School where he was the conductor of Symphonic Band II, led music rehearsals for the Class 6A State Marching Finalist Berkner Marching Band, coordinated the private lesson program, and taught 6th grade band in the cluster.  Mr. Brumley also served as part of the teaching team that helped the Berkner Varsity Concert Band finish 2nd place in the state in 2010 and earn an invitation to the prestigious Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.  Before his tenure at Berkner, Mr. Brumley also served on the band staffs of Lake Highlands High School and Red Oak High School and Junior High.  

Mr. Brumley serves as President-Elect of the Texas Bandmasters Association. In 2018, Mr. Brumley was inducted into the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity.  He holds a Masters of Music in Wind Conducting from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a Bachelors of Music from the University of Texas-RGV.  Mr. Brumley is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Texas.  He and his wife, Cayce, reside in Dallas along with their children, Scarlett, Noelle, and Maddox. 

Elayna Youngson

Assistant Director

Elayna Youngson is excited to serve as the Assistant Band Director at Walnut Grove High School. Under her direction, the bands have earned Superior ratings at all UIL events. Ms. Youngson was previously the Assistant Band Director at Central Junior High School in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD from 2020-2023, overseeing primary instruction of the Non-Varsity and Sub-Non-Varsity bands, beginner brass classes, and assisting with the Varsity Band. While at Central Junior High, Ms. Youngson’s ensembles have been awarded sweepstakes at UIL and 1st division ratings at the North Texas Festival of Distinction.

Ms. Youngson received her Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education Degree at Florida State University on her primary instrument of French horn. While at Florida State, she performed in ensembles under the direction of Patrick Dunnigan and Richard Clary. She is a member of the National Honorary Band Fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi, Texas Music Education Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. 

Ms. Youngson was a member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps serving as Drum Major in 2017 and 2018. She has been a Brass Instructor with the Legends Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019, Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps 2020-2021, and currently instructs the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps since 2022.

Lindsay Vasko

Percussion Director

Lindsay Vasko is an avid percussion educator currently based in Dallas, Texas. Lindsay is joining the Walnut Grove High School Band Staff from Flower Mound, Texas where she taught in Lewisville ISD.

​Ms. Vasko returned to Texas in 2019 after serving as Director of Percussion at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee. Lindsay has performed with ensembles such as Sō Percussion, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Waco Symphony Orchestra.

As a composer and arranger, Ms. Vasko has written for numerous concert and marching percussion ensembles across the country. She has provided masterclasses at numerous institutions and events across the country including the University of Michigan, Berklee College of Music, Eastern Tennessee State University, Central New York Day of Percussion, El Paso Jazz Girls and the Matt Savage Marching Percussion Camp.

Ms. Vasko was awarded a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She has been a member of the Vic Firth/Zildjian Education Team since 2019.

Trey Berliner

Color Guard Director

Trey Berliner is thrilled to be the Walnut Grove Color Guard Specialist. Mr. Berliner has worked with Rock Hill High School from 2022 to the present, and in that time he helped prepare the 2023 Winter Guard for their first ever WGI Championships, where the program made the amazing accomplishment of Finals on the world stage. In its first year, Mr. Berliner was a technician for Walnut Grove, and eventually stepped into the role of Guard Director. 

Mr. Berliner has marched a season with The Cavaliers Drum And Bugle Corps, and is currently marching with Mirage Performance Ensemble. Any lesson he is able to learn from his time performing, he is thrilled to share with his students. Mr. Berliner’s love for the activity has allowed him to view it in many different ways, and carries into his education of the activity.
